Who are the other authors?
Oct 8 2007, 7:58 PM EDT | Post edited: Oct 8 2007, 7:58 PM EDT
You seem to have drifted off after mentioning Lovecraft in your first paragraph there. May I suggest Clark Ashton Smith and Robert E. Howard (stories like "Pigeons from Hell, rather than the Conan stuff) as possibilities? And Robert Bloch, and Frank Belknap Long. All of them were part of Lovecraft's circle of correspondents--I'm sure there were popular writers I left out just 'cause they weren't in the Lovecraft circle. A minor point, perhaps, but there it is. (I'm all about the minor points.) Do you find this valuable?

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. You are correct to mention Lovecraft's other correspondents (Howard, Smith, Long and Bloch). I

'd also mention Leslie Bellem as a good one to read up on to get a feel for the mood. While Bellem's stuff is not in and of itself supernatural, there are a lot of elements that lend itself to setting the atmosphere, and maybe even a few plot hooks.

Would that be the Leslie Bellem of "Dan Turner, Hollywood Detective" fame? Do you find this valuable?
