Cool!

Not only is this the only decent single player adaptation of Risus I have yet seen, it also reminds me very much of NetHack, which I love. Do you think you could modify it to use polyhedral dice instead of Tarot cards? Since most of us have a ton of oddly sided die anyway, it would save a trip to the store for a deck of cards. Otherwise, it's pretty spiffy. 5  out of 5 found this valuable. Do you?

Yeah, I'm sure there'd be some way to adapt that to dice. You'd just have to add a lot more charts. And you'd need a good way to roll a d14, d22 and d56. But it's certainly possible. I may work out the charts later, but for now, if you don't have a deck of tarot cards, you can always use a pack of business cards with the names of the cards on them.
Thank you very much for the feedback. I'm glad you enjoy the setting. Also, if you like NetHack, make sure to check out Linley's Dungeon Crawl, another great rogue dungeon game.

Looks neat. I'll have to figure out how to compile it at some point (Ubuntu Linux for the win!) but it looks fun. As long as it's actually beatable ::glances at NetHack::. Not suggesting anything of course, other than the fact that NetHack is nearly impossible :) Do you find this valuable?

EDIT: Picking a value off a random chart isn't too hard. I could probably code a Java program to do it for me. Do you find this valuable?

And if all else fails, you can always pull out your old TI-82 calculator and make some random number generators in there. And yes, it IS possible to beat it. To beat the game, you'll have to get up to level in your cliche, have +3 dice armor, and either a +3 dice weapon (if fighter), or a total of +3 dice to magic (if mage). Since you can have the full 25 encounters in each level if you want, you should be able to get there. I've also included Extra Shots and the ability to Rest, which should both help out too. Let me know how it plays out - I always love getting feedback! Do you find this valuable?

Wow, a Rouge game that's actually beatable? Sign me up! I'll get around to writing a random picker eventually. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Awesome. Yeah, this rogue game is technically beatable. Technically lol. I would have used just a regular deck of cards, but I wanted more variety. A random number generator would be pretty easy to whip up. Using dice would be a bit trickier. Do you find this valuable?
