I don't know that it will work for my games, nor am I sure that I want this level of difficulty, but...yes, there's always a but...this did give me the idea of starting each turn of combat with a Rock-Paper-Scissors (Defense-Technique-Offense, if you'd rather) contest. A 1 Die bonus would be awarded to the winner. This may mean that an character gets a bonus against one opponent, is even against another and is at a disadvantage against a third. I'll have to let y'all know how it works in practice...

I'm going to put together some European weapon styles; not a big fan of oriental styles personally. Well, it's not that I don't like them. But they geett overrated and overused... Although I do understand why you put them in here. The whole O-D-T mechanic is very nice. Some of the weapons are comparable, but I'll have to compare styles to see if a direct correlation is possible. Katana = Longsword, for example, or Bo Staff = Quarterstaff.

I'm really excited about what I see here; however, may I make a few suggestions?
First: Ruminator and Dragonrider are 100% correct that Aikido is purely defensive. It should resemble Crane Style in terms of stats. Second: The gun cliche rules seem a bit clumsy. May I suggest the following: Instead of being reduced to one cliche die, why not just state that the Tools of the Trade rule applies as normal due to gun malfunction or out of ammo, and reduces the cliche to half-dice for melee actions using the weapon, and no shooting allowed. (I imagine that your non-Martial Arts cliche rule would come into play as well, giving opponents crazy bonuses.) This would make use of existing game mechanics as much as possible, which IMHO is always the best way to go. One more thing. Instead of adding a seperate die roll to determine malfunction, which could complicate and slow down the action, why not say that if half or more of the dice rolled for a gun cliche come up 1's, the gun malfunctions/runs out of ammo. This way the more skilled you are, the less it happens, and you don't have to make that extra roll, because it's built-in. You could still scale it up by saying that each successive roll increases the number rolled. (ie on the 2nd shot, a gun would malfunction if rolling half or more 1's and 2's combined, etc...) Third: No Krav Maga? Show some love ;) (Krav Maga O-3, D-2, T-1)

Just a thought (and since the suit of hearts is lonely), why not add a fourth stance - Mystical (I've seen the sensei at my dojo do some amazing things with focused ki). It would require a bit more thought than just rock-paper-scissors, but it could be interesting.

I agree with RUminator about the Aikido part, as i to study it (used to anyway). Otherwise, super cool setting! I'm gonna have to play test this sometime.

Very cool concept for Risus Martial Arts. I'm not certain I agree with all of the ODT rankings (I study aikido and it is a purely defensive martial art that reacts to attacks), but still very cool.
