  • Technology: Technology, as everything else, is a confusion of vastly different time periods; the general feel is supposed to be different proportions of steampunk, cyberpunk, and fantasypunk. Steam engines, clockwork devices, and difference engines co-exist alongside vacuum tubes, reels of spinning computer tape, Jacobs' Ladders arcing electrically, talking cars, airships with billowing sails, and Al Gore's Internet.
  • Transportation: Many places are inaccessible by some types of technology. Your destination determines the kind of transportation you can take to get there. Of course, these rules, too, are subject to Maximum Game Fun.
    • New Megalopolisburg: by boat from the Atlantic; by train; by superhighway; by plane
    • The Disunion: by boat from the Missourippi or the Atlantic; by train; by covered wagon
    • The Wild Wild West: by covered wagon or train; the northern part by boat; Sin City by train or plane or superhighway
    • The Rustbelt: by plane; by superhighway; by boat from the Missourippi

  • Sports: In Anachromerica, many cities assemble teams of competitors who competed in ritual gladiatorial-style competitions. The winning team gets to drink the blood of the losers from a special sacred chalice, the Super Bowl.
    • Each team is distinctive in composition and fighting style.
    • · The teams of Chicago are made up of trained bears and bulls.
    • · The Texas Rangers are gun-toting lawmen, while the
    • · LA Laker Girls are choreographed water nymphs.
    • · New York is famous for its gigantic apple-wielding humanoids.
    • · Minnesota’s Vikings were descendants of Norse colonists who came to Anachromerica in the time of Leif Garrettson.
  • Celebrities: other than the ones mentioned under the regional descriptions.
    • Randy "Doc" Savage, Macho Man of Bronze
    • Evil Knievel, motorcycle daredevil from Hell
    • Dirty Harry Houdini, blunt, cynical, unorthodox escape artist. He has an orangutan partner named Clyde.
    • Lucky Lindy & Amelia Airheart, romantically-linked aviation rivals
    • J Edgar Hoover: cross-dressing tyrannical director of the Federal Bureau of Instigation. Two of his top agents, Mully and Sculder, work in the top-secret Why Files department
    • Pecos Bill Clinton, white-haired cowboy full of tall tales about his romantic exploits.
    • Charles Marilyn Manson, scary musical cross-dressing movie star and murderous cult leader.
    • F. Scott Fitzgerald Kennedy, well-known author of the "Jay Gatsby, Private Eye" series. His literary career now plays second fiddle to his efforts to find the assassins who claimed the lives of his brothers Joe, John, and Bobby
    • Carry A. Nation, the muscle-bound, hatchet wielding female weightlifter who denounces alcohol as a tool designed by the misogynoligarchy to keep women passively in their place. She exacts a special kind of revenge against male bartenders that she calls "suffrage"
